With Density Separators from WIMA, you can effectively separate materials such as compost sieve overflow, rootwood, green cutting, tree waste or building demolition material into a light and a heavy fraction.
You can give up materials between 10 and 150 mm.
For an optimal result, we recommend pre-treatment with a suitable screening machine, as the WIMA HDS density separators are designed without a feed bunker.
Our HDS density separators are available as standard in the following versions, depending on your requirements:
The cleaner the water, the better the density separation process works. Therefore, we ideally offer the right solutions for process water treatment with the WIMA HDS – or components from other manufacturers – for the processing of your material. You can find out more about this at the WIMA lamella Separators on this page.
The HDS-S is the compact entry-level solution for water-based density separation from WIMA. It has a closed water circuit and two water chambers. The material can be placed in the water bath with a conveyor belt. The continuously adjustable propeller generates a flow in the separation chamber and transports the light materials onto a conveyor belt. The water flows through the conveyor belt back to the intake chamber of the propeller and is available again to the process. The lightweight materials remain on the conveyor belt and are discharged. The heavy materials sink to the ground in the separation chamber and are discharged with a conveyor screw. This screw is soulless to convey heavy materials with an edge length of up to 150 mm without any problems.
To make the HDS-S easier to integrate into your process, it is available in two variants:
Two discharge bands are available, as well as an optional windsifting for the task area.
With the help of the flow velocity, materials with a density of > 1g/cm3 can also be transferred into the light fraction.
For the density separation process, it is necessary to limit the size ratio from the largest to the smallest grain.
The HDS-M from WIMA is a machine for water-based density separation with integrated sediment discharge. The core of the HDS-M is the infinitely adjustable propeller. This propeller allows you to adjust the flow velocity for a wide range of materials. The material is placed on a shear and rinsed into the “flow area” of the machine by means of water. The heavy components sink and are discharged by means of a conveyor screw. This screw is soulless to convey heavy materials with an edge length of up to 150 mm without any problems. The “light materials” are transported with the water into the drum. Here, the material is drained and transferred to a conveyor belt at the end of the drum. Below the drum are two water chambers. In the first chamber, the settling chamber, the flow rate is reduced and quickly sedimentable components from the process water sink to the ground. There is a small sediment screw installed, which continuously discharges the material and unloads the water. The water flows further into the intake chamber and is available for the process again.
With the help of the flow velocity, materials with a density of > 1g/cm3 can also be transferred into the light fraction.

Process water treatment for primary and secondary raw material Treatment
The cleaner the water, the better the density separation processes, washing processes and wet classification work. A process water treatment enables a circulating water flow and thus reduces the consumption of fresh water.
Lamella separators, by their design, support the settling behaviour of fine particles. If the particles become even finer, the process can be supported by an addition of flocculant.
May I introduce: The WIMA Lamella clarifier LA 40 R!
This is a semi-mobile unit for a volume flow of 20 – 60 m3 of water per hour. The compact design and the adjustable staufl change make this slat separator a flexible, very mobile unit on every depot.
The WIMA standard portfolio offers the LA 100 R and the LA 300 R for stationary installation. These two stationary components, we will introduce you here shortly.
For those who cannot or do not want to wait until then, your WIMA Sales is always available with detailed information.
